Building intercom systems can be divided into analog systems, digital systems and SIP systems according to the technology type. So how do users choose among these three systems? The following is an introduction to these three systems for users to choose from as a reference.
1 Analog intercom system
Advantages:
Low cost: low equipment price and installation cost, suitable for small projects with limited budget.
Mature technology: stable lines, simple maintenance, low failure rate.
Strong real-time performance: no delay in audio transmission, stable call quality.
Disadvantages:
Single function: only supports basic calls and unlocking, and cannot expand intelligent functions (such as video, remote control).
Complex wiring: audio and video cables and power cables need to be laid separately, and expansion or transformation is difficult.
Poor anti-interference: susceptible to electromagnetic interference (such as strong electric equipment), long-distance transmission signal attenuation is obvious.
Poor scalability: cannot be integrated with other systems (such as access control, monitoring).
Applicable scenarios: low-cost demand scenarios such as old communities and small residential buildings.
Digital intercom system (IP intercom)
Advantages:
Rich functions: support high-definition video, remote unlocking, information release, electronic cat-eye and other intelligent functions.
Simple wiring: Transmitted through Ethernet (PoE power supply) or Wi-Fi, reducing cable costs.
Strong scalability: can integrate access control, monitoring, alarm and other systems, support mobile phone APP control.
Strong anti-interference: digital signal transmission is stable, suitable for large communities or long-distance deployment.
Disadvantages:
High cost: large investment in equipment and network infrastructure (switches, routers).
Depend on the network: network stability directly affects system performance, and bandwidth and security need to be guaranteed.
Complex configuration: professional network knowledge debugging is required, and the maintenance threshold is high.
Applicable scenarios: mid-to-high-end residential, commercial buildings, smart communities and other scenarios that require multi-functional integration.
SIP intercom system (based on VoIP protocol)
Advantages:
High compatibility: Based on the standard SIP protocol, it can be seamlessly connected with mainstream communication systems (such as IPPBX, softphone).
Remote interconnection: Supports remote calls via the Internet (such as connecting the property center with residents’ mobile phones).
Flexible deployment: No special equipment is required, and the existing IP network is directly used to reduce wiring costs.
Scalability: Easy to integrate with other SIP terminals (such as video conferencing, call centers).
Disadvantages:
Depends on network quality: Delays or insufficient bandwidth can cause call jams and blurred videos.
Security risks: Firewalls, encryption and other measures need to be configured to prevent network attacks (such as eavesdropping, DoS).
Cost fluctuations: If high security or QoS guarantees are required, deployment costs may increase.
Applicable scenarios: Scenarios that require remote access or integration with corporate communication systems (such as office buildings, hospitals, campuses).
User selection suggestions:
Limited budget, simple functions: choose analog system.
Intelligent, future expansion: choose digital intercom system.
Remote control or integration with enterprise system: choose SIP system.
In actual deployment, network environment, post-maintenance capabilities and user needs must also be considered
